That’s right, we decided to take on another adventure to bike across Wales this September! I’m sure your first question is why?!? One reason is because It’s fun! Some of you may know we attempted a bike across Iowa last summer as part of RAGBRAI, which didn’t finish as I’d hoped so I might also be wanting a bit of redemption.
This will be much less intense as it’s only 50 miles per day instead of nearly 90, only 4 days long, and Wales *should* be cooler in September than Iowa at the end of July, so no heat exhaustion this time! Another reason to take part in this adventure is that it’s a fundraiser for a great cause, called bigmoose.
If you have never sought out therapy, you might not realize how many barriers there are to get a therapist. When I was dealing with a bunch of work stress and lack of sleep and finally decided to get help, I spent weeks searching and emailing to find one that had space in their client load. I’ve had friends tell me its taken them months to find a therapist that works for them. I can’t imagine trying to do that if I was in a worse place. That’s where bigmoose comes in, they provide fast and accessible therapy to those who need it, without waitlists or criteria. If you want to learn more about bigmoose and their Project 15 you can check out their website here:
You might now be wondering, how did we find out about this? Well you might have heard us mention in past posts that we watch travel vloggers who post on YouTube that have given us ideas of where we want to go. One of our absolute favorites, who actually inspired us to travel via campervan in Scotland, is Kinging-It. Over the years they have done several challenges around the world to help raise money for different charities, sometimes doing crazy things, such as their wheelie bin challenge!
They decided to follow the same path for the bike challenge, castle2castle. This time instead of doing it solo, they have invited up to 50 of their followers and outsourced the organization to a professional bike event company so it is a fully supported ride. So parents if you’re worried, there are people and medics ready to help if something goes wrong!
So why am I telling you about something before it happens? Well we need your help. As part of signing up, we agreed to raise a total of $2500 for bigmoose. So if the cause is important to you, or if you just want to support us you can donate here:
We’ve already paid what’s needed to cover the costs of the ride, including a bike rental, our food, the bike organizers, and renting camping equipment. That means all of your donation goes right to bigmoose. The event starts in early September so if you are planning to donate, make sure you do so before September 3rd!
Thank you!!
