Hello! We are Mr and Mrs Willing to Wander. After 10 years together, we got married, sold our house, quit our jobs, and are now traveling the world! It sounds like a third-to-mid life crisis, doesn’t it? We have actually been planning this for a few years, and had a rough itinerary for world travel before even planning the wedding! Traveling full time is something that has always been in the back of Mr. Wander’s mind, and it seemed like the perfect opportunity to use our honeymoon as an excuse for a lap around the world.
One of our drivers for “wandering” is to find the good in the world that is so easily overlooked by social media and the news. We are also hoping to find joy and purpose, and learning a bit about ourselves along the way. After working over a decade as engineers in corporate america, we were both in need of a reset. You could consider it like a sabbatical, an opportunity to step back and evaluate what we want our lives to look like at this stage.
January | Thailand, Malaysia |
February | Vietnam, Cambodia |
March | Japan, South Korea |
April | Nepal, India |
May | UAE, Turkey, Egypt |
June | Greece, Croatia |
July | Netherlands, Denmark |
August | Spain, Portugal, Morocco |
September | Tanzania, Madagascar, South Africa |
October | Brazil, Peru, Bolivia |
November | Argentina, Chile |
December | Panama |
The plan is to be gone for one year straight and be home by Christmas, starting in Southeast Asia and working our way West. Trekking to Everest Base Camp in April is the anchor for our loose itinerary, but everything else is subject to change. Our goal is not to check as many countries off our list as possible, but to try to slow travel and experience more of a country, something that is difficult when you only get 2-4 weeks of vacation a year.
We don’t know yet if we’ll do future laps but someday when we’re ready to stay back in the US long term we plan to build out our own campervan and explore the National Parks of US and Canada. Eventually we intend to settle down and build our own house, but for now we remain Willing to Wander!
